Titration experiment. Student using a digital pH meter to measure the pH of a solution in a conical flask during an acid-base titration experiment. This involves addition of an acid to a base, or vice-versa, with the burette (vertical apparatus) used to measure the volume of a known concentration added to a known volume in the conical flask. Indicators are usually used to show when the mixture has reached a neutral pH, but pH meters can also be used. The known and measured volumes, and the known concentration, are used in a calculation of the unknown concentration in the conical flask.
