Presiden, HW. , Louisiana. Vice-President John Hall. Rochester. N. Sec*y. (I Thirty fifth annual convention to be held II at Denver, June 8-10. 1910. Fl Amherst, Mass.—Professor Waugh. of the Agricultural College, has been speaking at various points on land- scape gardening. He is strong for "American" gardening, suiting the work of the country, and we are sure he is right. Imitations of Italian and English gardening are but imitations at best. Let us have a style suited to the country and plant our own native tjrees or others similarly hardy, then we are working along the right lines. I College Park. Md.—At the meeting of the Association of Horticultural In- spectors, P. L. Washburn was elected president for the coming year and Prof. T. B. Symons secretary-treasurer. Resolutions were passed indorsing a federal inspection law for imported stock which law, as now worded, is said to be perfectly satisfactory and acceptable to the nurserymen of the United States. Two delegates from the American Association of Nurserymen were present at the meeting. ,' S. A. Forbes, state entomologist of Illinois, has issued a circular to the nurserymen of that state advising them to be sure to obtain a high grade of cyanide of potassium. 98 per cent pure, for fumigating purposes. Dr. Forbes has. had the products of several chem- ical manufacturing companies an- alyzed and specially recommends that of Merck & Co., Mallinkrodt Chemical Works and Powers-Weightman-Rosen- garten Co., all of St. Louis. The ijjroducts of these firms can be ob- ijpined of local druggists. The folly <?f using a low grade cyanide is de- ••fpribed as "worse than useless" for fumigation.
