D.,presided, and gave the charge to the Rev. Amzi Armstrong, D. D., addressed thepeople. The church was organized in October. 181 a meeting of the members of the churciT,held November 6, iSii, when a sermon waspreached by Dr. Richards from Hebrew xiii. 1,the following persons were elected to the officeof ruling elders, viz.: Nathaniel Douglass, 48. UK. : ESSEX COrXTY. X. ILLrSTkATI-I). Joseph L. Kein ami Aaron Ward,llie first two were also chosen andset ajiart to perform the duties ofdeacons. .•\t the organization of the churchthere were ninety-tliree members,all of whom were dismissed andrecommended by the Kirst Iresby-Icrian Church. The whole numberof persons wlio have been con-nected with the church is twothousand ei<jht hundred and thirty--eight. Of these, one thousandfive hundred and seventy-eight werereceived -on certificate and onethousand two hundred and sixtyon examination. At the presenttime, the whole number in com-munion with this church is sixhundred and twenty-eiglit. In November, 1895. the RevThomas Reed Bridges assumedcharge of the pastoral office, and isnow the pastor.
