The River L'Arnette flows through Mazamet At the foot of the Montagne Noire (Black Mountains) covered with a thick carpet with acres of forests, Mazamet is lies on the edge of the Languedoc National Park – the southern most extension of the Massif Central (geologically the oldest part of France). Today, Mazamet is a quite market town with small industries and becoming a favourite for Brits to live. Mazamet was once the largest wool-producing town in the world, importing wool from many parts of the world. The textile industry expanded, thick flannel, cotton, pullovers, ties and traditional French berets were all produced locally.
