Woolwich, London. The Dial Arch historic old pub and birthplace of Arsenal Football Club


Dial Arch - Young's Brewery pub in Historic building. The pub is the birthplace of Arsenal Football club. In the 19th century a field gun workshop called Dial Square was located on this site. The workmen formed a team called Royal Arsenal which turned professional in 1891 and when they joined the football league they changed the name to Woolwich Arsenal. the Club moved to Highbury in 1913.
