Length, 11 inches. 176— Vkhv Rase Agate Di ck and Loirs (CVien Lung)Boldly carved and undercut duck in a lotus pond, beadturned over back ami in mouth, stalks of lotus with bud,flower and seed. At side, small duckling with a fish in itsmouth, feathers delicately engraved. The colors of thematerial vary from g]-cenish-gravs with lilac vein to richamber, the different tones being cleverly developed andforming an exceptional carving. Length, 1(1 inrhin. 177— Grkkn-grav .Tajik Sack (Ming) Sage is seated with hand upturned in teaching carved in an archaic style with ancient garments,hair curiously dressed in long queue, which, with the pointedheard, shows an old Egyptian influence. Finelycarved in flat relief with archaic emblematical ornament andpalm-leaf band. handles at sides with separate detached rings, ribs at base and neck delicately etched, coverof severe outline with plain knob. Material is of agate ex-quisitely veined with lilac, gray and yellow, and broad sur-faces of lilac and golden-browns. A high class specimenof the agate work of the period.
