Zurich, Switzerland, Quickbird satellite image. North is at top. Zurich is situated at the confluence of the river Limmat (bottom right to centre right) and the river Sihl (bottom centre to bottom right). The Limmat drains out of Lake Zurich, out of frame at bottom right. The main railway station of Zurich, the Hauptbahnhoff, bridges the Sihl before sending railway lines westwards. Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland with a population (2002) of around 365,000. Bern, with a third of Zurich's population, is the country's capital. Photographed on 16th August 2002.
