Yellow nail as a symptom of bronchiectasis in a 41-year-old man. Bronchiectasis is a chronic widening of the airways (bronchi) of the lungs. It may result from an infection (often in childhood) or be congenital (present from birth). Pus will accumulate in the airways and the patient coughs up pus- and blood-containing sputum. Treatment is with antibiotic drugs to control the infection, as well as physiotherapy to drain the sputum.
