Both Gottesman and Bennett were attached to Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 2 when they were called to assist local, state and federal authorities in finding missing victims in the wake of the bridge collapse. Minneapolis/St. Paul Navy week, happening now, afforded the Sailors an opportunity to return to the Twin Cities to commemorate the recovery efforts and pay homage to those affected by the bridge collapse. Navy Week programs serve as the Navy's principal outreach effort into areas of the country without a significant Navy presence, with 195 Navy Weeks held in 71 different cities.
