Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region, China : Tibetan Buddhist pilgrims postrate and pray by the Jokhang temple in Barkhor Square. The Jokhang is considered as the most sacred temple in Tibet. First built in 652 CE it has been enlarged several times over the next 900 years,with the last renovation done in 1610 by the Fifth Dalai Lama. In 2000 it was added to the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
