Dead leaf mantis (Deroplatys desiccata) in leaf litter. This mantis exhibits leaf mimicry, camouflaged among the dead leaves on the forest floor. Mantises mainly prey on other insects, lying in wait in their 'praying' posture and striking with their front limbs. This mantis is found in Borneo, Sumatra and other areas of Indonesia and Malaysia.
