Flemish School, 1684—1734- Born at Antwerp, where he received instruction in painting from an unknown came to England in 1708 and became known by his copies of Teniers and othermasters. His pictures were usually landscapes and views, with figures and often with horses,in which he excelled. One of the best is a view of Chatsworth painted for the Dukeof Devonshire.
