New Office Building luicl Drivewai'. be a good thing for the florist to dis- courage the use of that common ex- pression "Asparagus fern" when re- ferring to Asparagus plumosus, and so far as may be done without offense to teach his patrons that asparagus is not a fern, although it has finely di- vided foliage. But to return to our subject, after the young ferns have become estab- lished, it is well to gradually accus- tom them to the full sun, thus insur- ing a short and sturdy growth, and at the same time giving plenty of fresh air both night and day just as long as the weather will allow. The Boston ferns in their numerous va- rieties will also be growing away rapidly and those planted out in the benches for stock will be producing runners at a rapid rate. These should be taken off and potted as soon as they start to make roots and foliage, and afterward may be either potted on or planted out on the benches as may be most convenient, the benched plants growing a little more rapidly, but those grown in pots being by far the most satisfactory to the purchaser.
