The sun sets behind a snow bound forest on the edge of the Alttajärvi Lake in Jullebovägen, Kiruna, Sweden. This is the river tributary feed into a rather large lake about 15 mins drive outside Kiruna in Sweden. As I approached this area, it was very clear to see the difference between the frozen lake with 6 inches of snow I was walking on and the much thinner crust in the foreground of this tentatively used the extended leg of my tripod to test the strength of the surface where I wanted to take the shot from and then the crust as you can imagine, the tripod went straight through the latter as it was only about I had been shooting for about 10 minutes when I noticed a father and son approaching from my right. I couldn't believe it when they showed no signs of slowing down as they approached the thin crust around the edge of the meltwater and shouted literally as the father had a foot hovering over it. I shudder to think what might have happened had he fallen
