A frontal portrait of a very relaxed and cooperative Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas), with a very clean and colourful carapace.
Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas). A superb frontal portrait of a very relaxed and cooperative individual, featuring the very clean carapace that is so characteristic of green turtles (mature hawksbill turtles most of the times have the carapace covered by a thin dark crust). In my experience, Viligili is one of the best diving spots in Maldives. Turtles are very abundant, which means sharks, who prey on turtles, are also very abundant. Currents are sometimes incredibly strong, but nothing is and the stronger the current, the more sharks will pop Viligili, Huvadhoo Atoll, Maldives
