The seed should be sown as soon as possible after the danger of frosts is over; a good plan is to burn a quantity of brush and rubbish in the spring, on the ground imended for the se>ed bt-d. then dig and thoroughly pulverize the earth and mix with ashes, after which the seed may be sown and covered very lightly. When the plants are about six inches high, transplant into rows six feet apart each way, and cultivate thoroughly. White Burly—Largely used for the manufacture of cigars, plugand fine cut tobacco, as the leaf of this variety readily absorbs a large quantity of manufacturing material.
