'St Bartholomew's Hospital, London', 1752. By Thomas Jefferys (1695-1771). St Bartholomew's Hospital (St Barts) is the oldest hospital in London, and was founded in 1123. It is the oldest hospital in the United Kingdom that still occupies its original site. The main square was designed by James Gibbs in the 1730s. Three of the four original blocks survive, including the block containing the Great Hall.
