A Persian pesh kabz,end of 18th century. Characteristically curved wootz-Damascus blade with reinforced cutting edge and point. Some pitting at the point and along the cutting edge. A gold-inlaid maker's mark on one side. Forte,as well as back of the blade and grip straps bear finely chiselled decoration displaying foliage,blossoms and birds. Three-part walrus ivory gripscales. Lanyard eye with gold-inlaid pendant. Length cm.
