Bangkok, Thailand - December 1984 Is there any place more romantically and evocatively named than Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn? This Buddhist Temple is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River which runs through the centre of Bangkok. Built in the 17th Century, it is probably named after the Hindu god Aruna, whose avatar is the emanation of the rising sun.
