Ludwig Behringer (1825 - 1903) - "In Battle 1814", Oil on relined canvas. Depiction of an encounter between French Guides and Bavarian infantry from the 1814 campaigne in France. Monogrammed on the lower left "LB", dimensions 34 x 28 cm, new gilt frame. Coming from the cadet corps, Behringer was an active officer from 1843 to 1855. After his retirement from the cadet corps he became an art teacher and painter. His works on the uniforms of the Bavarian army can be considered standard references. Cf.
