Space shuttle Discovery launch, 4th July, 2006. Successful launch of the shuttle at 2:38 pm EDT from pad 39b. On the 12-day STS-121 mission, the crew will test new equipment and procedures to improve shuttle safety, as well as Âdeliver supplies and make repairs to the International Space Station.
