Mr. Hub-bard went with the southern division, whichparticipated almost immediately after its ar-rival in the battle of Fannington, Miss.,then in the first battle of Corinth, where(olonel Hubbard was badly wounded. InAugust of that year, he was appointed col-onel of his regiment. He was in its com-mand at the battle of luka, the second battleof Corinth, and at the battles of Jackson,Mississippi Springs, Mechanicsburg and Sa-tarcia. Miss.; Richmond, La., and the assaultand siege of Vicksburg. After the fall ofVicksburg Colonel Hubbard was given com-mand of the Second Brigade, First Division,. LUCIUS V. HUBBARU. The lirif;ade participatedwithin a very shoil time in seveu battles onRed river, La., and in sontliern to Memidiis, it also took part inseveral engagements in Mississijjpi, Arkansas and Missouri. It was also engaged inthe battle of Nashville, December 15 and (i4. reinforcing General Thomas. In thisbattle the brigade was badly cut to pieces;Colonel Hubbard had two horees killedunder him and was severely wounded. Itadded to its laurels, however, by capturingseven pieces of artillery, many stands ofcolors and forty per cent, more prisonersthan were in the command itself.
