Group of Eminent Revival Preachers


In 1857-1858, there was a popular revival movement, or Great Awakening as it was also called, in the religious world in the United States and especially in the eastern cities. It was Christian-based. Pictured in this 1881 engraving are eight eminent revival preachers. From top to bottom and left to right, they are C. G. Finney, P. Cartwright, J. N. Maffitt, E. N. Kirk, Jacob Knapp, E. P. Hammond, A. B. Earle, and J. D. Potter.
