Three men with the bonshō at Hōkō-ji Temple. Unknown, photographer 1850s–1890s View of three men around the bonsho, or great bell, at Hoko-ji Temple. Two of the men stand on one side of the giant bell, one holds an oil-paper parasol over his shoulder while the other stands on the large stone blocks that support the bell and wraps his arms around it. The third man stands on the opposite side of the bell and rests one hand against it. Temple buildings surround the courtyard where the bell sits.
