This pumping station in Ross is a reminiscent of half a century of goldmining from 1865 to 1914 near the town Ross in Westland District in New Zealand. Soon shaft mines were established and sluicing operation washed gold out of terraces. Dieses Wasserhebewerk in Ross erinnert an die Jahre von 1865 bis 1914 als in der Nähe der kleinen Stadt im Distrikt Westland auf der Südinsel von Neuseeland Gold abgebaut wurde. Schon bald nach der Entdeckung wurden Schächte gegraben, um das Edelmetall aus dem Untergrund zu holen. An anderen Stellen wurde der Boden mit Wasserstrahlen abgetragen, um an das eingelagerte Gold zu gelangen.
