Laterhe entered the employ of the Pittsburgh Locomotive Worksas general traveling agent. In November. 1902, he was ap-pointed western representative and traveling agent for theAmerican Locomotive Company with headquarters at Chicago,which position he held until October 1, 1903. when he becamegeneral sales manager for Jerome & Elliott. He was electedsecretary of the American Railway Master Mechanics Asso-. ciation at its fourth annual meeting, which position he heldfor 18 years wlu-n he was elected president for two years. Stephen C. Mason, secretary of the McConway & TorleyCo., of Pittsburgh, and a past president of the National Asso-ciation of Manufacturers, died at his home in Pittsburgh,December 12, due to heart failure. Mr. Mason was born atFairlee, Vt., in 1861, entered the employ of the Connecticut& Passumpic Railroad in 1880, remaining with this road until1888. In this year he went to Washington, D. C, as an ad-visor to the Interstate Commerce Commission, later becomingassistant statistician. He remained with the commission foreight years, the last three years of which time he was indirect charge of the statistical division and the compilation of the statistical re-ports published bythe commission. In1896 he becameassociated with theMcConway &Torley Co. of Pitts-burgh, Pa., andlater became
