Newport Bridge over the river Tees carrying the A1032 road between Middlesbrough and Stockton. Grade 2 listed it was the first first large vertical-lift bridge in Britain, designed by Mott Hay and Anderson and built by local contractor Dorman Long. It was opened by Prince Albert, later King George VI in 1934. Originally painted green it was repainted in silver and red for its 80th anniversary in 2014
