Barkley, Pastor Logantown (Seventh Ward, Altoona) began to build uprapidly with the erection of the lower Pennsylvania Railroadshops. This brought an influx of people. Among them wereMr. C. C. Mason and family, in 1873, who, seeing many childrenidling about on the vacant lots during the Sabbath Day, decidedto start a Sunday school and gather them into it. Mason was elected super-intendent, Mr. Honestine was elected assistant superintendent,and Mrs. S. A. Mason. Mrs. Jennie Kipple, Mrs. Crosley, , Miss Mollie Bennett and Mrs. Brandt were electedteachers.
