Central Terminus Preston Bus Station, and parked buses at Tithebarn St, Preston, Lancashire, UK, which had been earmarked for demolition.

In October 1969 Preston’s new Central Bus Station and Car Park was officially opened by Lord Stokes of Leyland Motors. At that time the Bus Station was the largest in Europe. Preston city council has approved the demolition of its bus station, ignoring protests by campaigners who view it as a masterpiece of 20th-century design. The council decided in principle in Dec 2012 to bulldoze the building, an example of British brutalist architecture, after concluding that it would be cheaper to replace it than refurbish it. The Twentieth Century Society, which has campaigned vigorously to save the 1969 finned, concreted building it describes as "irreplaceable" – although some consider it to be an eyesore – condemned the decision as "extremely short-sighted. Preston Bus Station is the in the city of Preston in Lancashire, England. It was built by Ove Arup and Partners in the Brutalist architectural style between 1968 and 1969, to a design by Keith Ingham and Charles Wilson of Building Design Partnership with E. H. Stazicker. The building was threatened with demolition as part of the City Council's Tithebarn redevelopment project. After two unsuccessful attempts it was granted Grade II listed building status in September 2013.
