An incredibly close shot of a Humpback Whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) fluke in Antarctica; every detail of the skin can be seen
Some of the Humpback Whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) encounters in Wilhemina Bay in Antarctic Peninsula can be incredibly close… this individual was feeding nearby and at one point it was swimming right under our zodiac. When it raised its fluke, or tail, in order to sink, I could take this image, in which every detail and wrinkle of the skin, every crustacean can be appreciated.
