Salona, Croatia - 9 April 2018 Founded by the early Greeks several centuries BCE, the ancient city of Salona was the capital of the the Roman Province of Dalmatia. It was once a major centre, but its extensive ruins have been demolished many times, particularly in wars against the Turks. But some ruins still remain to this day. This 2000-year old carved face seems to be alive with pain, horror and anguish.
