The Puente de Boyacá (Boyaca Bridge) is the site of a historic battle known as the Battle of Boyacá of 7th August 1819 which led to independence for Colombia. Situated approximately 110km east of Bogota, it is today a popular tourist destination in Colombia. The Von Miller monument depicts five allegoric female figures, symbolic of Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia and holding Simón Bolívar.
