A kingfisher takes a hard earned rest. LIKE A BULLET this peckish kingfisher stealthily dived into the water to catch its lunch. The pictures show the brightly coloured bird glide gracefully out of the water after catching an unsuspecting fish. In another shot, the kingfisher appears to be taking a well-earned break on a nearby branch after the energetic display. Italian amateur photographer Marco Merli (28) could not believe his eyes when he captured the kingfisher in action. The pictures were taken in Ferrara, northern Italy.
