Thegeology of Maisonville, Grenfell and Eby is very similar to that of the Kirkland Lakeand Swastika areas, and has been described in some detail in the marginal notesaccompanying the geological map of the townships. The predominating rocks are of the Keewatin system, consisting of basalt andandesite which have been intruded by diabase, the latter rock sometimes occurringin large volume. There are also some scattered bands of iron formation, particularlyin Maisonville township. The Timiskaming series has been traced from Teck township westerly into Grenfelland Eby townships as far as Kenogami
