To paint withoutwater would be impossible, nor could I do anything till I hadhad a drink ; so I carefully measured off half for each purpose ;but it required a great effort to reserve any for my refreshed I began my sketch; but the journey hadtaken long, and I had to count on plenty of time for goingback; so that after all my toil I had but a short while a
