Yaozhou celadon covered jar, Northern Song dynasty, China, 11th century. A globular jar of plain alms bowl shape and cover. The cover has a 'piecrust' form and metallic inspiration with raised central section and knob. The jar is covered with a fine glassy celadon glaze of even, slightly greyish colour. The base shows the typical Yaozhou oily brown tinge.
