GULF OF ADEN (April 1, 2019) – Marine Gunnery Sgt. Nadia Sensing, right, the AV-8B Harrier detachment staff noncommissioned officer in charge, awards Sgt. Muharrim Haque, a precision measurement equipment technician, both with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, with an instructor tab at the completion of the Martial Arts Instructors Course culminating event on the flight deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD-3). Throughout the event, the Marines partook in various physical training exercises, were tested on their knowledge of the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, and free sparred and ground with one another before being awarded their instructor tabs. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are currently deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
