The first tomb at theright (No. 1 on the plan)was built in the form ofa commemorative arch,with pilasters at the cor-ners. Above was a lowcylinder surmounted bya truncated cone, on whichstood a terminal memberin the shape of a pine cone,found near by. The cine-rary urn was buried in theearth below an opening in the floor of the passage under the arch (shown in the plan). On the topof the arch were three niches, in which stood three travertinestatues; two of these, both of women, have been preserved,and are of indifferent workmanship.
