ENTRANCE HALL ROOSEVELT MEMORIAL The Theodore Roosevelt Memorial THE Theodore Roosevelt Memorial, erectedby the people of the State of New Yorkin memory of the man whose name it bears,forms the main entrance to the Museum onCentral Park West. Its graceful architecturefollows a stately Romanesque design. Passing through the central archway thevisitor steps into the great Memorial the marble mosaic floor, rise walls ofcream colored marble and limestone extend- ing to an elaborate Corinthian cornice over-arched by an octagonal coffered barrcl-\ aultioo feet above the floor. The central part ofeach wall is recessed and divided into threeparts by two Roman Corinthian columns 4Sfeet hitdi supporting the entablature. Threeof these recesses are adorned with great mu-ral paintings symbolic of the varied career ofTheodore Roosevelt. On the walls, quotationsfrom his writings are given in bronze letters. O
