Renaturalization in a wetland near of monastery Chorin in Germany

The ditch Nettelgraben and the Bullenwiesen lowland are part of a comprehensive irrigation system in the area of the former monastery Chorin. This system was created by the Cistercian monks in the 13th century. Part of the concept is, that the ditch will dry out from time to time.
