He was confined to his cell and forbidden tolecture. A copy of his Opus Majus being sent to ClementIV. on his elevation to the Papal chair, he promised his pro-tection, which continued until his death; when Bacon wasmore severely persecuted, his works were prohibited, and he wasimprisoned about ten years.
