A pilot from the 555th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron throws up the ‘Triple Nickel’ sign after landing on Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, April 25, 2017. The 555th EFS, commonly referred to as the ‘Triple Nickel’, has a rich combat heritage, beginning in 1942 as the 555th Bombardment Squadron. They have participated in World War II, the Vietnam War and currently conduct counterterrorism operations out of Bagram Airfield.
