Located on Second Cross Street in the Pettah bazaar district, it is a distinctive red and white candy-striped building with a clock tower. Completed in 1909, the mosque was commissioned by the local Indian Muslim community. It has a hybrid architectural style that draws elements from Indo-Islamic and Indian architecture and combines them with Gothic revival and Neo-classical styles.
