Shot of the yellow ochre terraced tower of Bankside Lofts. Bankside Lofts is an iconic residential complex of loft-style apartments, created in the early 1990s on the south bank of the River Thames, adjacent to Tate Modern and opposite St Paul’s Cathedral It is a Manhattan Loft Corporation development. There are 120 apartments, completed between 1995 and 1998. Designed by award-winning architect Piers Gough, the heart of the development is a former Victorian cocoa warehouse. To the north is a converted 1950s office building of similar height, curving round the street line. This has been extended upwards and sideways to form a distinctive, yellow ochre terraced tower. There are single and double height lofts throughout, with commercial premises at ground level. Bankside Lofts is adjoined to the south by Gallery Lofts; glass-fronted to make the most of its views across to St Paul's and the City.
