Lieutenant Bremer sent the fol-lowing statement in regard to the helmet: History of same:—This was pickedup by the writer on September 13, 1918,on famous Montsec. The day of the drive, September 12, 1918, I wason reconnaissance work and so did notget time to pick up any souvenirs, but onmy way back from work, September 13,1918, I picked this up. It was lying nearan American soldier from San Jose, Cal.,whom I helped to bury. It was on theside of a hill and evidently must havebeen dropped in Mr. Leslie Neider, who has been in theGovernment service for the past year inCompany D, 89th Division,has recently returned fromFrance and received hisdischarge. He returns tothe company service in theConstruction Department,Line Division. While inFrance he saw some realfighting at the front withthe 89th Division. Paul Singleton, 101st AeroSquadron, A. E. F. (For-merly of San Jose District.) Mr. John V. Spinetti, for-merly with the ConstructionDepartment, Line Division,who has been for the pasteighteen months in the Gov-ernment service with the15th Spruce Squadron, 2dProvisional Regiment, locat-ed at Vancouver, has beendischarged from the armyand returned to the com-pany in his old capacity. Mr. Malcolm Hook, who was with theElectric Department prior to enteringmilitary service and who was connectedwith the 13th Military Police, Company A,Camp Lewis, has again associated him-self with the company in the Line Con-struction Department.
