Saint-Tropez, France 11th June 2022 Port de Saint-Tropez empty before the ROLEX GIRAGLIA sailing race. By a strong mistral, on July 11, 1953, 22 boats took the start of the first 1974, the first participation record was reached with 132 boats. In 1997, the name changed with the arrival of a new partner and was called the “Giraglia Rolex Cup”. In 1998, the Yacht Club of Saint-Tropez joined the event to inaugurate a new formula by organizing 3 coastal regattas in Saint-Tropez. In 2002, the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez took over the organization of the event in Saint-Tropez. It was a landmark year as 162 boats took part in the event, which now includes the class of 50 and 60 foot IMOCA monohulls. A real challenge launched between the prestigious sailboats that have built its reputation and Maxis of 30 meters. Organized by the Yacht Club Italiano, the Yacht Club de France and the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez, the Giraglia has thus become one of the largest cruise races off the Mediterranean, bringing together more than 200 boats of 10 different nationalities.
