Chalfont St Peter, UK. 2nd March, 2024. Part of the village of Chalfont St Peter remains closed to vehicles as Thames Water and their contractors are continuing to pump up groundwater and sewage from manholes in the village of Chalfont St Peter in Buckinghamshire. Sewage has been flowing onto the High Street and Thames Water have also, at times, been pumping excess water containing sewage directly into the River Misbourne, a precious chalk stream. There are continuing calls for Thames Water to be renationalised. Credit: Maureen McLean/Alamy
