The baseball season of 1914 was one ofthe most successful in the history of theschool as the team not only ended well upin the front—in third place—but gave thestudents a brand of baseball that kept themon their feet all the time. Such high classbaseball had not been seen on Camp Randallfor some time, and the students showedtheir appreciation by overflowing the standsat every game and giving us the supportthat no Wisconsin team has ever had be-fore. The team had a fighting chance forthe championship all through the season,and was the most feared of any in theleague,as we broke even with Illinois, the Confer-ence Champions, defeated Chicago, theteam that won second place, in two extrainning games, and took two games fromIndiana, spoiling their chances for the cham-pionship. But, unfortunately, several otthe teams in the second division caught usoff form and we had to be content with thirdplace. The good showing of the team was due ina large part to the great pitching of Neuen-schwa
