GULF OF ALASKA - Lt. Gen. Ken Wilsbach, commander, Alaska Command, salutes sideboys as he prepares to disembark Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS O'Kane (DDG 77) on the flight deck of DDG 77 in the Gulf of Alaska. Northern Edge 2017 is Alaska's premiere joint-training exercise designed to practice operations, techniques, and procedures as well as enhance interoperability among the services. Thousands of participants from all the services; Sailors, Airmen, Soldiers, Marines, and Coast Guard personnel from active duty, Reserve and National Guard units, are involved.
