The Charming Creek Walkway, near Westport, which follows the Ngakawau Gorge passing through tunnels and over bridges and giving spectacular views.


Charming Creek Walkway follows an old bush tramway route up the Ngakawau Gorge. Along the route you can see the remains of the old timber and coal mining industries that used the route. The track passes through deveral tunnels carved through the rock and crosses the river by a suspension bridge. You also pass the spectacular Mangatini Falls. The track is mnaintained by DOC. It is easy walking and is one way.
